Visual Review - Photoshoot 01-03
Photoshoot 01

My first photoshoot was a mixture of photos which captured movement and relationships between people. However, some of my experiments, like the one on the right, were less on theme as they didn’t create a narrative of emotional connections. This edit doesn't convey an emotional importance and instead takes away from the beauty of the pure phot. At this point in the course, I hadn’t found my focus and was exploring lots of styles of experiments in order to find my own personal style
However from this photoshoot I like this image as it captured the emotion connection between two people as well as presenting the business that surrounded them. I enjoyed using a slower shutter speed in order to create a blurred background and a focal point to the image and hope to bring this forward to the rest of my work. This photo represented my theme well as it presented people and their interaction in the world around them.

As I went on to do photoshoot two I decided to take inspiration from William Eckersley and capture silence and spaces with a lack of movement and people. Although I think this photoshoot was very emotive and creating an unsettling feeling in the viewer, I missed capturing people and found that this was my favourite thing to do. I still wanted to bring some of the elements from this photoshoot through with me such as the use of monochromatic edits and the use of leading lines. I specifically like this photo as it captures an ominous and silent atmosphere.

I also enjoyed doing darkroom edits however I think that this edit is too intense and doesn’t add much to the image and instead begins to take away the subtle lines the create the narrative in the image. I would like to continue doing some darkroom edits, however I would like to make sure that I have a key idea and narrative behind removing/ editing sections of the image.
Photoshoot 03

For photoshoot three I began to focus on emotional connections between people and capturing moments. As well as this I tried to capture emotion through harsh architecture and leading lines. I particularly like this photo as it provokes a sense of connectivity in the viewer as well as having a slightly ominous undertone.
I also like this edit as it presents emotional connection and distance in one image. I liked using black and white to bring out the harsh lines of the structure in the background as well as separation the individual from the duo. The use of the smudge tool and colour separation are both things that I would like to bring forward into my photoshoot 04 edits.

Going forwards, I would like to start capturing class division and bring a slightly more political undertone to my work bringing themes of emotion and connection. I would also like to focus my work on people, and provoking emotions of nostalgia as well as distress in the viewer.
